Control portion sizes. Restaurants usually provide you with more food than your body needs so you end up getting 2–3 times more food than you should eat to maintain a healthy body weight or shed some extra pounds. Other than increasing your waistline, larger portion sizes also lead to various health issues, such as an increased risk of diabetes, blood pressure, bloating, and heart diseases. To prevent overindulging, try to follow dietary guidelines by nutrition experts and ensure the serving size is right for you. At-home cooking allows you to control the amount of food you have for your meal.
